Key Precautions for Termination Operations of Circular Electrical Connectors

2025-08-25

When performing termination operations on circular electrical connector devices, technicians must meticulously execute and verify each step in accordance with the termination standards or requirements specified in the selected termination chart, while also following the corresponding contact numbering sequence for an orderly process.

The insulation thickness between cable conductors must precisely match the distance between the contacts, and the cable core must fit perfectly with the contact terminals. When performing cross-connections between contacts, special attention should be paid to the stranding diameter of multi-strand cores. Please note: Cross-connection of wires between contact crimping holes is strictly prohibited.

During soldering operations, an appropriately powered soldering iron should be selected based on the bare wire diameter, and the soldering time for each contact should generally be controlled within 5 seconds. It is crucial to avoid flux permeation into the insulation body, as this may reduce the product’s insulation resistance.

When crimping is employed, it must be emphasized that only by ensuring precise control of the circular connector’s contacts, wires, crimping tools, and crimping procedures can optimal crimping quality be achieved.

Before clamping the wire harness, ensure the tail accessory is fully tightened. Failure to do so may easily cause damage to the threads of the housing and tail accessory during practical application.

When connecting the tail accessory with an anti-rotation device (such as an anti-rotation key), the tail must be accurately aligned with the anti-rotation mechanism on the plug or socket. Misalignment may result in loss of anti-rotation functionality, potentially leading to damage to the electrical connector and tail accessory.
